Dog Story Theater is a nonprofit theater venue in Grand Rapids, MI
Dog Story Theater has had to make the painful decision to close its doors at 7 Jefferson Ave. When COVID-19 forced closure of the theater, the board worked very hard to cover overhead during months of shutdown; however, because we don’t know when it will be safe for us to resume renting out our space, or when people will be comfortable staging or attending live performances, it reached the point where Dog Story simply did not have the means to remain in its current space any longer.
The board (past and present) has always been deeply committed to our mission of providing an affordable venue for local performers and artists in need of a stage to share their art with the community, but the safety of our community comes first. It is our fervent hope and intention that this is not a permanent closure. Dog Story Theater continues as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, just without a space at this time. We hope that once live, in-person theatre is again possible, Dog Story will be able to make a fresh start. Thank you for your support, and know that we are so grateful for the love and patronage Grand Rapids has shown our little venue over the years.
